In his tenure as Head Boys Track Coach at Capital High School (Olympia) and Assistant Football Coach (Capital and North Thurston Public Schools) Michael has coached hundred of athletes to reach their full potential. He is currently the head coach of 4performace track club, the sprints/hurdle Coach at The Evergreen State College and a Physical Education teacher.

During Michael and Margret’s time as coaches at Capital High School starting from 2019 (There were no state championships in 2020 or 2021) they have celebrated 12 All-State 3A individual events, 8 state championship events, including the 4x200m relay and back to back 4x100m. In this time, 12 event school records were overturned (some several times over). The Capital Girls team won the 3A SWD3/4 District title in 2022 and 2023 and were the 2022 3A state champions.

At the 2025 WIAA State Championship meet 4Performance athletes celebrated two state champions: Abby Wilson ( 4A100m Hurdles) and Jordan Smith (3A 110 Hurdles).

Rounding out with other 2025 All-State individuals: Cassidy Hedin ( 2A 300m Hurdles), Ashlyn Hufana ( 2A Long Jump)
